Misconceptions about hypnosis have existed in the past causing few to understand its simple-yet-miraculous ability to facilitate positive change in willing individuals. In past decades, an eerie shroud of mystery has surrounded hypnosis causing fear and mistrust in the minds of many people who might otherwise have greatly benefited from its use. This mistrust of hypnosis was largely fueled by scary movies and unfortunate stage hypnosis shows.

Fortunately, the higher truth of hypnosis has emerged. Today’s modern scientific tests and studies repeatedly show that hypnosis not only works, but also how and why it works. The existence of the state of hypnosis, as well as how deeply a person is hypnotized is proven and depicted on Electroencephalographs (EEG’s). Positron Emission Tomography (PET Scans) demonstrate that the human body reacts to hypnosis suggestions as though they are real events. These tests, and many others, concur that the body works to create whatever the mind imagines when a person is hypnotized.

Hypnosis is now widely accepted, even by members of the medical community, as an empowering, helpful, life-changing tool that can be used to support your positive goals. The most common uses for hypnosis historically have been stress management, weight loss, and smoking cessation. Today hypnosis is being used for everything from shaving points off a golf game to helping individuals to overcome Cancer.

Hypnosis is a totally natural state of mind that accesses and uses your subconscious mind. Your subconscious holds the keys to your infinite power and abilities. As you effectively use hypnosis, it becomes easier to do the things you want to do in life. Hypnosis is also a pleasant, safe, natural, and effective tool that you can use to overcome negative habits; to foster your self-esteem, talents, and creativity; as well as to create your ideal body and optimum health.

Through hypnosis you can discover how enjoyable, relaxing, and easy it is to use your mind to create the body you really want. Perhaps you want a thinner body. Maybe you want a stronger, muscular, more powerful body. It could be that you want a curvy or athletic body. Hypnosis helps you to create whatever body type you want by keeping you positively focused on your goals and emotionally pumped to succeed.

Regardless of the type of body you want to create, it is important that you be healthy. Hypnosis can also motivate you to eat and behave in ways that promote your optimum health. A good weight loss hypnosis audio program is also filled with suggestions that support health and happiness as well as suggestions that promote your confidence and self-esteem.

If you are shopping for a hypnosis audio program for weight loss, for best overall results, read the descriptions carefully so that you select a program that fosters your efforts in a variety of ways. It is also wise to read the credentials of the hypnotist who wrote and performs any hypnosis program you are considering purchasing. In selecting a hypnotist, experience, credentials, and training all matter. Shop wisely.

Are You Ready to Look and Feel Better?

Won’t it be great to have a body that is comfortable, flexible, attractive, and that radiates health? Those worthwhile objectives are more obtainable through hypnosis combined with your own desire, positive actions, and dedication. Since your subconscious mind controls your physiology, hypnosis also goes to work to help your chemical and hormonal levels come into balance. It serves to optimize your metabolism, as well as your assimilation and elimination systems essential for healthy weight loss. Inside the depths of your sea and the furthest reaches of your soul, you possess infinite strength, abilities, and power. Hypnosis helps you to access all your inherent gifts and it sets you powerfully on course to the fulfillment of your goals.

Hypnosis is actually a mental state or a set of attitudes and beliefs. When you induce a certain state of mind through pre-recorded audio and other media, you are doing self hypnosis. Self hypnosis is done in the absence of a hypnotist, but in the presence of conditions suitable to inducing the mental state of hypnosis to one’s self.

Autosuggestion is closely related to hypnosis. Autosuggestion is a process in which the unconscious part of the mind is trained or programmed to do or believe a specific thing. This is often done using hypnosis.

A lot of people undergo through self hypnosis because of the benefits that can be derived by hypnotism. First and foremost, hypnosis can remove or change behaviors. Most people who want to change their attitude and behavior in a faster manner use self hypnosis. Usually hypnosis is used to stop bad attitudes and habits like smoking and drinking. Many may not agree to this method, but a number of people have actually quit smoking and drinking with self hypnosis.

Another benefit of self hypnosis is implanting positive beliefs. There are a lot of positive beliefs that can be implanted into your subconscious using self hypnosis. These can be most beneficial to people who have negative views in life.

Correspondingly, negative beliefs and traits can also be removed with self hypnosis. Whether you admit it or not, you hide certain concepts and biases in your minds. Unknowingly these biases are actually holding you from moving forward; thus getting rid of these can be very advantageous.

Self hypnosis is also effective in removing stress fast. Hypnosis is referred to by some people as the most relaxed state of being; thus removing any stress that is present in your mind and body. Unlike other stress relieving methods, self hypnosis does not cost so much, and you can actually do this any time that you like and frequently as you like.

Another benefit is for the relief of pain. Self hypnosis has been used a number of times for the relief of pain. In most cases, the state of mind is conditioned not to feel the pain, or to have a higher resistance to pain.

Finally, self hypnosis is also used in weight loss or weight gain. This is one of the safest methods in losing or gaining weight. This basically follows the concept of mind over matter. If you are placed in a state of mind which focuses on weight loss, you will definitely pattern your activities after this state of mind.

Thus, self hypnosis contributes to the well being of a person. According to some people, hypnosis is a way of putting your physical self in relaxation, and not a form of unconsciousness. While hypnosis should be used for noble objectives only, there are some people who abuse the power of hypnosis instead. As such, it is important for you to understand the purpose of self hypnosis before deciding to go through it.

When I was in my teens I read a book about Edgar Cayce. If you’ve never heard of him, Cayce was a devout Christian, but many consider him the founder of the New Age Movement. For forty-three years Cayce would put himself into a self-induced state of relaxation which enabled him to answer questions (readings) and diagnose people he had never met.

With only the name and location of a person, Cayce would speak in a normal voice and give readings to any questions about that person that he was asked. Most of the readings were given for people who were sick, and many of the cures he recommended are still in use today.

Of course this peaked my curiosity about hypnosis, and I built up quite a library on the subject.

There are plenty of stories about hypnosis being used in negative ways as well, and frankly these stories are what kept me on the fence about using it personally for a number of years.

In his book, The Man Who Invented Hitler, historian David Lewis revealed that Adolf Hitler was once hypnotized. Apparently, Hitler lost his sight near the end of World War I due to hysterical blindness. Through hypnosis, a doctor suggested to Hitler that through will power he could make himself see again. It seems that the suggestion worked.

What finally got me off the fence was my own competitiveness. I wanted to do well at a school debate, and I was tired of losing — well repeatedly coming in second — to the same person. When you need an edge you’ll try anything once, and I did. I tried a self hypnosis session, and I got the result I was after. Since then, hypnosis is part of my self-help arsenal.

In truth, hypnosis isn’t good or bad — it’s neutral. It might help you and change your life forever, or you may be completely unchanged after a session. It may only work for a period of time. Your results will depend on factors such as motivation and determination. Your destiny is still in your own hands.

When you set out to write a self hypnosis script, you probably already have a goal in mind, but exactly how you define your goal has more impact on your success than many people realize. The more carefully you define your goal, the more effective you can be in preparing your subconscious mind to focus on what you really want and boost your chances of creating the result you want.

Here are four power questions to ask yourself when defining your goal for a self hypnosis script. Use these questions to clarify your goal and focus your subconscious mind on achieving exactly what you want.

What do you want? Write down what you want to accomplish.

What will having this do for you? Ask this question to make sure that you have identified what is most important to you. For example, if your goal is to increase your income by 50%, ask yourself what would having that do for you. If your answer is that it would give you more time with your family, you may want to focus on your real goal of having time with your family rather than making more money. Focusing on making more money could easily take you away from having more time with your family. So if you set the wrong goal you could end up sabotaging your real success. For this reason, it’s important that you define your goal as your real desired end result rather than some intermediate means to an end.

How will you know when you have it? Write down the specific things that will be your evidence for success. These may be tangible things like “I will lose 5 pounds by January 31″ or intangible things like “I will wake up feeling good about myself.” The more specific you are here, the more precisely your subconscious mind will know what you want to achieve. If you cannot answer this question easily, stick with it until you have a clear answer that will give exact guidance to your subconscious mind. The more clearly you define your evidence of success in sensory terms – things you can see, hear, feel, smell and taste – the more useful the guidance will be to your subconscious mind through your self hypnosis script. Your subconscious mind really cannot relate to something abstract like having an income of $5,000 per day, but it can relate to something sensory like waking up feeling good about your accomplishments every morning.

Where, when and with whom do you want it? Define the specific contexts where you want to accomplish this goal. For example, if you want to be more self confident, with whom do you want to feel confident, in what situations, while you’re doing what activities? When you answer this question, you should be able to vividly imagine yourself in the exact situations and with the specific people you want to accomplish this goal. The more vividly you can image the end result, the more your subconscious mind will have to work with to create what you want.

Once you have identified your goal using the questions above, make sure that it is written in positive rather than negative terms. For example, a negative goal statement would be “Stop feeling bad about myself” while a positive goal statement would be “Start feeling good about myself.” Research has shown that people who focus on positive goals are significantly more successful than people who focus on negative goals.

This is especially true when setting goals that will be given to your subconscious mind during your self hypnosis session.

Now that you have defined and clarified the goal for your self hypnosis script, you’re ready for the other steps of designing and writing your most powerful self hypnosis script possible, which is covered in another article in this series on how to write your own powerful self hypnosis script.

Hypnosis is a natural condition where people are in unconscious mind or we can say that they are in two world between being awake and being asleep. They are actually not aware about whatever things that they have done. In other word, Hypnosis is a ’suggestion’ that being used by someone to persuade other people to do something where people who has given ’suggestion’ not even realized it.

There are several types of hypnosis and its very popular now.

- Ericksonian hypnosis
- Subliminals
- Traditional hypnosis
- Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

A very simple technique of hypnosis is a Questions or ‘Story telling’. When people ask for something or telling a story, we can say that they offers a suggestion to our unconscious mind. This technique has been developed by Milton Erickson which is the author of isomorphic metaphors (Isomorphic metaphors is a hypnosis technique that persuaded someone by telling a story and the unconscious draws a one-to-one relationship between elements of the story and elements of a problem situation or behavior).

If we could discover more about hypnosis then we can find a huge benefit of it. Basicly, people can use it in different way like self-hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, psycotherapy etc.

In medical, Hypnosis is used by physicians or psychologists to treat many disease like stress, depression, over weight. And for people who want to quit smoking, They can use self-hypnosis to against it.

Hypnotism is used to treat people of problems regarding mental and psychological issues. Through that, the subjects – those who are succumbed to experience the hypnotism – are in therapy. They need the help of a hypnotist to urge themselves to change something in them: Stop smoking. Lose weight. Be a good parent. Be a loving husband. Quit putting others first all the time. And many more matters concerning one’s being. But is it really real? Can you really hypnotize someone?

Contrary to what others believe, if done with total submission, focus and positive attitude, hypnotism is very effective. You may not even know it, but in your day to day life, unconsciously, you are being hypnotized. Have you ever wondered why you cry during the sad moments of a movie? Can you really hypnotize someone just by merely watching TV?

The answer is yes and the following sentences will explain the why and how.

This is what hypnotherapists commonly call as Hypnotic State. During this state, both the subconscious and conscious minds are receptive to suggestions and the comments being proposed are retained without judgments and criticisms. After the hypnosis, the subject will most likely be following what was told to him or her.

Going back to the movie, it explicitly portrays that the heroine is terribly wronged by her husband who left her for another woman much sexier, more beautiful and successful professionally. She has with her four kids to raise, no job and no money. Her daughter asks if there is food to eat since it is Christmas. Her eldest son inquires if they are staying on this 2-room apartment, without central heater, for good. The woman goes to the kitchen, fixes a cake and puts it on the table. She answers her kids with: We’re together and that’s what matters. She goes inside the tiny comfort room, opens the shower, sits on the floor and cries…

Can you really hypnotize someone? There is no doubt about that. The movie just hypnotized you. You being the subject, submitted, focused and with an opened mind – you cry as well, feeling the feeling of the heroine in the movie. You put yourself in her shoes. You understood what was happening to her. It captured you and you learned from her mistakes and her ordeal. You can apply it in real life.

One of the many uses of hypnotism – weight loss, can be easily achieved through direct sessions with a certified hypnotherapist or a clinical psychologist who uses hypnotherapy to augment his treatment regimens. The United States has the highest per capita percentage of people considered obese. One is considered obese if their weight is twenty five percent higher than the ideal weight for their frame type, height and age. For example, my ideal weight is 175 pounds for a male, age 50, 5′ 10″ and average frame. If I weighed 220 pounds I would be considered obese.

The United States also has the highest percentage of obese children under the age of ten in the world. This is a sad commentary on how we view our own eating habits and quality of health along with our children’s. With the New Year approaching many people are going to put “losing weight” as one of their New Year’s resolutions and many gym memberships will be purchased (as many as half will be abandoned by the end of February) and fewer than ten percent of the people who do not employ the use of outside aides will achieve their weight loss goals.

Claims that hypnotism for weight loss will work on anyone is absurd and the people who claim this to be true should be avoided at all costs. Hypnotism is a great way to focus your mind and to have greater relaxation and relief from stress in your life. The only problem with hypnotism is that you have to be willing to be hypnotized for it to work well and many people think that hypnosis is a parlor game or magic trick that is not to be taken seriously. There are many psychologists that use hypnosis as a way to reinforce positive behaviors to help modify a patient’s daily routine and achieve their goals.

A hypnotist will not be able to help you lose weight if you truly do not want to lose weight. If you go to a hypnotist for help at the urging of someone else without making the decision on your own the therapy will take much longer to work and may not help you get to your weight goal. Hypnosis can help you focus on eating healthy foods, exercise on a regular basis and focus on the positive aspects of losing weight and getting fit. I recommend hypnotism – weight loss, for anyone who has a hard time keeping their weight down.

People have also reported phenomenal results with hypnotism – weight loss that uses binaural beats. It’s cutting edge technology that is embedded in MP3 format and can be used for self hypnosis.
During my training as a professional hypnotherapist and during the many years that led to my instructor status involving Neuro-Linguistic Programming, I constantly heard my teachers espousing the wonders of Dr. Milton H. Erickson. Yes, it was Erickson, who has been called the Father of American Hypnotherapy, who gave us tremendous insights into permissive approaches to hypnosis. However, as the cult of Ericksonian followers emerged, it seems that an entire universe of very effective hypnosis was completely whitewashed from the realm of clinical application. Indeed, many authors and self-styled experts – to include international associations that claim the authority to certify hypnotherapists – fail to recognize the power of relatively rapid and direct approaches using suggestion and imagination to heal the mind and body.

The indirect, naturalistic, and permissive Ericksonian approaches are currently dominating medical and psychological applications of hypnosis. They are elegant and particularly suited to fearful and resistant subjects. Clearly, a competent clinician should strive to master the many techniques associated with this system. Nevertheless, should one limit their education solely to the development of such skills, I am afraid to point out that their arsenal of hypnotherapy talents will remain stilted and ineffective in many situations. This is unfortunate, as there are a breadth of highly effective techniques available to the practitioner who seeks to fully understand the wealth and true nature of hypnosis in the healing arts.

Unfortunately, among many of the licensed professionals there seem to be an unjustified prejudice regarding non-Ericksonian skills. In fact, many a publication seeks to establish the credibility of the author’s ideas by unjustly – with limited and uneducated insights – denigrating the traditional skills, usually by using the term authoritarian to bash them. Most of them fail to realize that these near-mythological rants simply stem from a rather emotional dislike between Dr. Erickson, and his chief rival David Elman, a former radio personality and stage hypnotist, who taught thousands of medical doctors and dentists during the 1950’s and 60’s. This rift has been further exacerbated by a handful of Ericksonian-oriented associations who continue the irrational exclusivity proposed by Erickson. The truth, however, is that the techniques taught by Elman were as brilliant in their own right as those of Dr. Erickson.

While Elman was never licensed in the medical or mental health fields, his ideas appear to have been a merger between his traditional direct approaches – which were apparently influenced by stage hypnosis techniques – and his thorough studies of a long line of medical and psychological authorities such as Hippolyte Bernheim, MD, and Henri Munro, MD. It was his effective synthesis of his practical stage-oriented skills with his profound understanding of medical applications of hypnosis that prompted a group of New Jersey physicians – which I believe to be frustrated students of Dr. Erickson – to approach Elman and request that he instruct them on the proper use of hypnosis in medicine. Even though he was quite clear that he lacked formal medical qualifications, he found that his talents were very congruent with the needs of the doctor’s patients.

Elman’s contributions were many. His students learned quick 3-minute techniques that soon evolved into 1-minute techniques and even the wonderful skill of Waking Hypnosis. (The level of trance created by these physicians would never have been achieved using Erickson’s methods.) Add to this the ability to rapidly create levels of trance sufficiently deep for use during extensive surgery. While in my exhaustive study of Elman I found he had difficulty with about 10% of his subjects, he was able to achieve results in many situations that Erickson regarded as impossible.

I have been teaching Elman Hypnotherapy – as well as Ericksonian hypnosis – for several years now. My students have reported very interesting results. This includes medical doctors giving what would normally be painful inoculations without the awareness of their patients and removing sutures and stitches without any form of anesthesia. Also, psychologists and counselors mentioned elegantly relieving pre-surgical stress and alleviating lower back pain. All of this was done not by authoritatively barking commands at a surprised subject, but with the calm, respectful tone that is normally attributed to the permissive practitioner.

A competent, professional hypnotherapist and any licensed professional that regularly employs hypnosis in a medical or mental health practice must become proficient in the wider range of skills. By understanding the that basis of hypnosis is the bypass of resistance and empowering efficient selective thinking, the breadth of the clinicians skills can provide a multitude of approaches to what is a very powerful, yet simple healing technique.

If you spend some time searching on the web you’ll find that free self hypnosis scripts are available for anyone to use. No matter what the reason for wanting to hypnotize yourself, whether you want to lose weight, stop smoking, or anything else, there is a free self hypnosis script on the internet that can help you.

If weight loss is your goal but you find that you lack the desire to exercise or diet, then self hypnosis may be an option you want to look into. Although free self hypnosis scripts are easily obtainable on the internet, it’s important that you follow the procedure correctly if you want the hypnosis to work.

Relaxation and really being able to get to a place where you can tap into your subconscious is what self hypnosis is all about. Because your subconscious is not able to distinguish between reality and fantasy, some people are afraid of it. The upside to using free self hypnosis scripts is that you have control over the entire procedure and can stop whenever you wish, whereas when you are being hypnotized by another person you’re giving the entire control of your mind to someone else.

After you’ve found a comfortable place to perform the hypnosis and are in a relaxing position, you’re going to want to start by meditating, completely clearing your mind, and then begin the suggestion process. You’re going to start the procedure slowly with the suggestions for whatever problem you’re looking to fix. At this point you should have already decided what your goal is before you began the relaxation.

For example, if you’re looking to lose fifty pounds, say to yourself in a calm, soothing voice, “You will go for a walk for ten minutes every day for the next three days.” And you’re going to keep repeating this phrase to yourself until it sinks into your subconscious. Don’t be surprised if for the next three days you suddenly have an urge to go for a walk. In order for the free self hypnosis scripts to work you may have to repeat the process a few times.

Free self hypnosis procedures work, and can in fact be an easy process. You shouldn’t expect to work magic with free self hypnosis, but you’ll definitely be able to accomplish a lot of same things that paid hypnosis would.

If you’re having trouble quitting smoking then you owe it to yourself and your lungs to learn about self hypnosis. This article will discuss the difference between an ex-smoker and a new non-smoker. How your bad habit keeps bringing it’s self back and also why hypnosis is the only way to truly break your habit.

If you’d like to kick the habit and quit smoking you want to really become a new non-smoker instead of an ex-smoker. An ex-smoker will continue to crave a cigarette years and years after they’ve consciously quit. This means the ex-smoker is always susceptible to restarting the habit. Especially if they go through a low point in their life. A new non-smoker on the other hand is someone who has reconditioned or reprogrammed their mind to never again desire a cigarette. This can make a huge difference. The non-smoker is truly free, while the ex-smoker must constantly battle the desire for another smoke.

A person’s addiction regardless if its for smoking or sex or anything else has a life of it’s own. And that addiction resides in a person’s unconscious mind. Like most everything else the addiction wants to live and grow stronger. Now consciously you can defeat your addiction for a certain amount time, years even, but the addiction is still alive, lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to reappear. Most often it reappears at a moment in ones life where they are facing numerous challenges. If those challenges should start to overwhelm a person they will often revert back to their old habits looking for that something familiar.

So how does hypnosis work to help you end your addiction? And is it really that easy? Well because the addiction lives in your unconscious mind that’s where one must go to defeat it. Or more correctly to re-progam the unconscious to deal with stress in a more appropriate, beneficial way. A hypnosis program will initially put you into a very relaxed state somewhat like a trance. From this trance like state your unconscious mind can be reached very easily. With the proper type of programming your unconscious mind begins to change. Major changes can occur after just a few sessions if the programming is good.

So, we’ve looked at the difference in the levels of quitting smoking. Becoming a non-smoker should be your goal over being an ex-smoker. If you’ve become an ex-smoker congratulations but remember your addiction isn’t really gone it’s still there waiting to reassert it’s self. The only way to truly become a non-smoker is to reprogram your unconscious mind. The beauty of self hypnosis is that you can get an inexpensive session program specific to your goal and use it as often as you need to. The relaxation levels you can attain are beneficial in their own right. The way these hypnosis sessions work is very similar to the methods today’s star athletes use to maximize their athletic performances. Its weel worth your time to investigate hypnosis further.

I struggled with my demons after a divorce and I know the pain and stress of dealing with an addiction. It wasn’t until I started using an hypnosis program that things really changed for me. Check out my blog post about it to learn more.
